Diagnosis
Circular to elliptical placoliths with single-tiered distal and proximal shields, and either a single tube cycle (e.g., Noelaerhabdaceae) or double tube cycles (e.g., Ellipsagelosphaeraceae). In plan view, the shields exhibit inclined extinction lines and length-fast (-) elongation. The central area may be open, closed, or occupied by internal structures.
