Dictyococcites albitectus de Kaenel & Bergen in Boseiger et al., 2017
Medium to large [5.0-10.0µm], elliptical species of Cribrocentrum Perch-Nielsen,1971c having a central area with prominent non-porous birefringent mesh.
Cribrocentrum albitectus differs from similar-sized Reiculofenestra Hay, Mohler & Wade, 1966 species by having a permanent birefringent central mesh visible in polarised light. It is distinguished from Cribrocentrum gartneri (Roth & Hay in Hay et al., 1967) Varol, n. comb. by having non-porous central mesh whilst later having porous mesh. Cribrocentrum lockeri and Cribrocentrum retisimilis is separated from Cribrocentrum albitectus by being larger than 10.0µm. The later further distinguished by having a central area at least twice greater than the width of the pelaga.
Similar specimens with broad tube cycles should be classified into different species.
