The wall and central area show a sharp optical contrast: the wall remains in constant extinction, having an optic axis (c-axis) perpendicular to the microscope stage, whereas the central area exhibits strong birefringence with 1st‑order yellow interference colours.

Medium‑sized, low‑walled species of Calcicalathina characterised by a coarsely granular central area.
