Type Species

Minylitha convallis Bukry, 1973

Description

A kite shape nannolith with central depressions on both sides in plan view. Longitudinal and traverse ridges may or may not be present. It resembles the dog-bone shape at the side view. Strongly birefringent in its side view but non-birefringent in plan view [arguable weekly birefringent].

Remarks

There is no similar nannofossil; therefore, the affinities of this genus are unknown. Currently, only two species are known and identified by the presence or absence of longitudinal and traverse ridges.
