Discoaster protomultiradiatus Wei, 1998
Emended by Varol, 2023: A circular rosette-shaped asterolith comprises a non-birefringent disc and a narrow birefringent tube cycle proximally surrounded by an additional non-birefringent hollow, disjunct cycle.
Optical Properties: The inclined extinction lines are dextrogyre on the distal side but laevogyre on the proximal side in the cross-polarised light. With a gypsum plate, the blue sectors correspond to the horizontal axis on the tube cycle and the disc on the distal side (Pl 19, Figs. 10, 22 in Varol, 2023). In contrast, the blue sectors correspond to the vertical axis (Pl 19, Figs. 12, 24 in Varol, 2023). The entire asterolith appears birefringent in the side view.
