Holotype in mobile mount
Caycedoae kaminadesneraidon Bowman & Varol, 2021
A medium to large circular species of Caycedoa possessing one disc and a moderately high column. The column is notched at the distal end and resembles a fairy chimney.
After the Greek kaminadesneraidon, fairy chimney, Cappadocia, Turkey—referring to the fairy chimney-like appearance of the column in side-view (at 45° rotation).
Overall height: 6.12μm; Column height: 2.53μm, Column diameter: 6.10μm; Disc diameter: 9.10μm.
Medium to large (6.0–9.0μm) and circular species comprised of one disc and a column. The disc is wide, displaying a minor depression on the proximal side, and appears slightly concave (best seen in side-view). The moderately high column is parallel-sided and features a narrow central canal. The column has a deep depression and is notched or incised at the distal end, resembling two fairy chimneys at 45°. The disc and column consist of similar numbers of segments (about 24–28), and the disc segments are broader than the column segments.
The extinction lines are dextrogyre on the distal/column side, whereas the extinction lines are laevogyre on the proximal/disc side. The horizontal axis resides within the blue sector on the distal side, whereas the vertical axis lies within the blue sector on the proximal side when viewed under a gypsum plate. In plan view, the column shows a yellow birefringence colour under polarised light. The disc is non-birefringent in plan-view. The disc and column are birefringent in the side-view.
This species has a column with a deep distal depression and a significant notch at the distal end, and a narrow central canal. This species differs from species of Heliolithus based on the diagnostic birefringent pattern of the column that is parallel-sided and marked by a deep notch on the distal end. In addition, aside from Caycedoa yelpaze, Caycedoa kaminadesneraidon possesses fewer disc/column segments than other species of Caycedoa.
