This stellate, hexagonal form is rarely encountered in Late Paleocene sediments and bears a close resemblance to the spicules of didemnid ascidians. In plan view, it displays intense interference colours with length-fast elongation (–). The junctions between segments are elevated, forming a hexagonal framework reminiscent of sutural ridges, without protrusions, and with apices aligned to the inter-ray areas of the stellate outline. In side view, it likewise exhibits intense interference colours, with only a single cycle visible, and one side is distinctly more convex than the other.
sp., the standard abbreviation for species, is used in morphological taxonomy after the generic name when a specimen cannot be confidently assigned to any described species and shows no apparent resemblance to known taxa.
