Holotype
Neochiastozygus kallanxhiae Varol, 2025a
A species of Neochiastozygus characterised by a symmetrical diagonal crossbar spanning the wide central area, with two sigmoid arms creating an H-shaped structure.
In honour of Dr. M. Kallanxhi, geological engineer, Geological Survey of Albania, in recognition of her contributions to taxonomy and biostratigraphy of calcareous nannofossils.
Length = 7.82 μm; Width = 5.29 μm (both measured in XPL).
Optical Properties: The narrow outer wall remains in constant extinction, while the inner wall exhibits first-order white interference colours with dextrogyre inclination lines and length-fast (−) elongation on the distal side. The crossbar appears dimmer in this orientation, with its arms exhibiting length-slow (+) elongation.
