Remarks
Calcidiscaceae coccoliths exhibit circular to elliptical placoliths with open or closed central areas. In the plan view, a single-layered distal shield exhibits constant extinction (having a vertical optic axis relative to the microscope stage), and a single-layered proximal shield displays inclined extinction and a length-fast (-) elongation.
