Erlendmartinia svastika Varol, 2025a
Nannoturba Müller, 1979, is invalid according to ICN Art. 35.1, as no type species has been designated.
In honour of Prof Dr Erlend Martini, a Nannofossil specialist in Germany, in recognition of his contributions to the taxonomy and biostratigraphy of calcareous nannofossils.
Unique nannoliths are composed of elongated segments that vary in shape, including rectangular and square forms. These segments are arranged at multiple angles in a multi-tiered construction, resulting in complex hexagonal or cuboidal structures.
Erlendmartinia is calcareous and occurs alongside calcareous nannofossils, though its taxonomic affinity remains uncertain.
