Holotype
Zygodiscus skoteinigefyra Varol, 2025a
This species is characterised by a very narrow, dextrally imbricated outer wall, a tangentially arranged inner wall, and a central area spanned by a bipartite bar with a delicate central net.
Derived from the Greek skoteiní gefýra, meaning “dark bridge,” referring to the dim appearance of its transverse bar under XPL
Length = 10.93 μm; Diameter = 8.11 μm (both measured in XPL).
Optical Properties: The outer wall remains in constant extinction, while the inner wall exhibits first-order white interference colours, with dextrogyre inclined extinction lines and length-fast (−) elongation on the distal side. The diagonal bar displays first-order greyish-white interference colours with length-slow (+) elongation on the distal side.
