Micula vekshinae Varol, 2025a
Micula vekshinae, a cuboid species, exhibits blocks resembling a cobbler’s anvil, with a prominent cross extending nearly the entire length of the blocks.
The blocks display parallel extinction with length-fast (-) elongation, while the cross also shows parallel extinction but with length-slow (+) elongation.
In honour of Dr V. N. Vekshina, Russia, in recognition of his contributions to the taxonomy of calcareous nannofossils.
Length of sides = 4.15 μm; Diagonal length = 4.92 μm.
Micula vekshinae differs from Micula decussata in that its prominent cross exhibits length-slow (+) elongation. In contrast, the cross of Micula decussata is confined to the central area and displays length-fast (-) elongation.
