Synonyms

Crenalithus Roth, 1973

Description

Elliptical to circular placolith having birefringent unicycle distal and proximal shields and a tube cycle. Adverse preservational conditions often remove the non-birefringent central mesh.

The species of this genus are primarily identified based on their overall size sizes and the ratio of the pelaga to the central area.

Remarks

It is distinguished from Obturolithus Varol, in prep. and Cribrocentrum by lacking birefringent central mesh. It further differs from Obturolithus by lack of distal plug.

It is differentiated from Cyclicargolithus Bukry (1971) by being elliptical and/or having a larger central opening.
