Basionym

Coccolithus gelidus Geitzenauer in Geitzenauer & Huddlestun, 1972

Description

Large [> 8.0µm] elliptical species of Reiculofenestra Hay, Mohler & Wade (1966) with a narrow circular central opening distally but narrow elliptical central opening proximally.

Remarks

Reticulofenestra gelida differs from Reiculofenestra pseudoumbilicus (Gartner, 1967) Gartner (1969) by having a narrower circular central opening distally. It is distinguished from Reiculofenestra clemencesalleyae Varol, n. comb. by having a larger, well define circular central opening. It differs from Reiculofenestra hesslandii (Haq, 1966) Roth (1970) by being larger than 8.0µm.
