Synonyms

Cyclicargolithus minutus Denne, 2008 (nom. nud.) Invalid ICN Art. 38.1

Diagnosis

Small [< 5.0µm] circular species of Reiculofenestra Hay, Mohler & Wade (1966).

Description

Small [< 5.0µm] circular species of Reiculofenestra Hay, Mohler & Wade (1966) having narrow and indistinct tube cycle. In this study, we noted two variations based on the ratio of the central area to the pelaga; narrow central area (<width of pelaga) and wide central area (>width of the pelaga).

Remarks

Reticulofenestra wisei differs from Reiculofenestra bukryi (Wise, 1973) Varol, n. comb. by being smaller than 5.0µm whereas the overall size of the latter is 5.0-8.0µm.

Reiculofenestra wisei is distinguished from Reticulofenestra pospichalii de Kaenel & Bergen, in Boesiger et al. (2017) by having a narrower central area. In Reticulofenestra pospichalii the central area's diameter is at least twice greater than the width of the pelaga.

Reticulofenestra wisei is erroneously assigned to Reticulofenestra bukryi [calculated holotype size is 6.8µm].
