Helicosphaera paleocarteri Theodoridis, 1984
A helicolith characterised by a Type III (Helicosphaera carteri type) blanket, an expanded flange termination, and a central area containing two small round pores positioned off the axial suture. Helicosphaera paleocarteri differs from Helicosphaera dyotrypes in pore alignment; in Helicosphaera paleocarteri, both pores are consistently aligned off the longitudinal suture, whereas in Helicosphaera dyotrypes, one pore is always positioned on the suture while the other is off it. Helicosphaera paleocarteri exhibits inclined extinction angles of approximately 53° on the blanket on the distal side and displays length-fast (−) elongation.
