Helicopontosphaera neogranulata Gartner, 1977
A helicolith is characterised by a Type III (Helicosphaera carteri type) blanket, an expanded flange termination, and a central opening occupied by a delicate, non-permanentmesh often lost due to poor preservation. The elongated central opening is wider on the anterior side and features two indistinct short lateral projections. Helicosphaera neogranulata exhibits inclined extinction angles of about 63° on the blanket on the distal side and shows lengthfast (−) elongation.
