Crassapontosphaera jonesi Boudreaux & Hay, 1969
Large non-porous Pontosphaera species features a moderately high wall and a distal cover of equal height over the proximal plate. Several nearly radial sutures extend from a deep longitudinal suture on the proximal plate. Pontosphaera jonesii exhibits first-order yellow to brown interference colours, laevogyre-inclined extinction lines with a typical extinction angle of approximately 55° on the distal side, and length-fast (−) elongation.
